REGISTRY OF HOLOCAUST SURVIVORS

Names and Places Search Tools

The Name Lists Catalog describes thousands of published, archival, electronic, and other lists of names from the Holocaust available both in the US Holocaust Memorial Museum and in other institutions around the world. The Registry of Survivors is making the Name Lists Catalog available as a work in progress to better assess the use and interest in this resource.

This database of Jewish evacuees and refugees in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, is the first attempt to draw together archival information concerning the fate of Jews in Central Asia during WWII. Based on the card catalogue of evacuees stored in the Central State Archives of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the list consists of more than 250,000 cards with approximately 339,250 evacuees.

Survivors and Victims Research
The Registry of Holocaust Survivors conducts research about survivors and victims.

In order to conduct this research, we need the following information for each sought person:
  • Full name, including maiden names or nicknames.
  • Date of birth (an approximate year is fine).
  • Town and country of residence before the war and/or birth. Having the town name is important as most records are organized by town, not country.

The more details provided the more in-depth research we can do. Please also let us know what other sources you have already consulted. We will limit research of requests that include only a surname or a country to searches of various electronic databases.

The Registry of Holocaust Survivors asks for complete name and postal address of each individual who requests information concerning relatives lost in the Holocaust. Research will not start until we have received this information.
