Recommended pre-reporting tips

 

Reporting Aboard

During normal working hours (0700-1630) personnel shall wear either the Service Dress Blue or Tropical Blue Long when reporting to Training Center Yorktown. After 1630, personnel may report wearing civilian clothing.

Delay Enroute

Should you encounter a delay enroute which makes it impossible to meet your reporting deadline, report your situation to the OOD at (757) 856-2354.

Driving and Parking

Speed limit is 20 MPH; 5 MPH around marching troops and in parking lots. Pedestrian traffic ALWAYS has the right of way. Parking space is very limited. Park in the designated areas. "A" school students park in either Lot 2, Lot 4, or Lot 9.

Reporting Time

Reporting Time is no later than 1600 prior to class convening date. There will be a class indoctrination at 1800 in room 136 Hamilton Hall. EXAMPLE: class begins Monday January 15th, class indoctrination will be held Sunday, January 14th at 1800.

Check-In

You will be either assigned to Lafayette Hall. The barracks holds two people per room. Each hallway contains coin operated washers and dryers. Lounges are equipped with cable TV. Storage space is limited. Students are required to bring or purchase locks to secure personal items or valuables in their rooms.

Indoctrination

Students must bring transfer orders, personal data records (PDR), and health record to the indoctrination.

Sea Bag

"A" School Students are required to have a full sea bag when reporting. A sea bag inspection will be conducted.

E-PME AQE

All "A" School students are strongly encouraged to complete/pass their E-PME AQE for their next pay grade prior to attending school as this is a requirement for advancement.

Weigh-in

It is worth emphasizing that Commanding Officers/Officers in Charge must screen members to ensure compliance with Coast Guard weight standards per Maximum Allowable Weight Standards for Coast Guard Military Personnel. Students will be weighed in April and October.
