sOCS Stations


KEO Kuroshio Extension Observatory, an ocean climate station south of the Kuroshio Extension at 146.5E, 32.3N, funded by NOAA Climate Programs Office, Office of Climate Observations, June 2004 - ongoing.
Papa Ocean Climate Station Papa is in the Gulf of Alaska at 145 W 50N for the North Pacific Carbon Cycle project, funded by NSF Carbon and Water in the Earth System to Dr. S. Emerson (UW), June 2007 - June 2009. NOAA funding for continuation of the station is pending.


JKEO JAMSTEC-Kuroshio Extension Observatory, an ocean climate station north of the Kuroshio Extension at 146 30E, 37 53N, funded by JAMSTEC to Dr. Hiroshi Ichikawa. A NOAA PMEL OCS buoy was deployed for phase 1, February 2007 - February 2008. A JAMSTEC K-TRITON buoy is being used for phase 2, February 2008 - onward.
Carbon Flux Network. CO2 Flux is measured by C.Sabine on all OCS buoys. Data can be accessed through the station websites, or directly through the PMEL Carbon Group website.
