  1. Question

Has the grinders on spirit and opportunity turned up anything that vaguely look like small fossils?

Unfortunately, no fossils have been found on Mars. However, the resolution of the Spirit and Opportunity close-up cameras is not sufficient to reveal fossils of single-celled organisms, which are what most astrobiologists expect for life on Mars. Perhaps the most favorable scenario for detection of fossil life would take place if martian microorganisms combined to build structures like the stromatolites on Earth. It would really be great to see something like that within a martian rock, but this hasn't happened to date. David Morrison
