About the Division of Intramural Clinical and Biological Research (DICBR)


Mission Statement:

  1. Plans, develops, and conducts a program of basic and applied alcohol research, including metabolic, preclinical and clinical investigations, on the multiple determinants and processes of alcoholism and other alcohol-related problems and in the areas of prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation;
  2. operates a clinical research facility for the purpose of conducting research on alcohol-related illnesses and diseases, and developing improved methods of clinical care;
  3. provides in-house research scientist training in a variety of disciplines for work in alcohol-related research; and
  4. collaborates with other agencies, universities, and scientific organizations in the conduct of basic and applied research on alcohol and its effects.
