About Parks

The City of Chattanooga has an extensive network of public parks, playgrounds, walking trails, and ballfields providing residents with approximately 800 acres of park space for passive and active recreation.

Leashed pets are allowed at all city parks with the exception of high traffic venues by the river: Coolidge Park, the Walnut Street Bridge and the 10 mile Tennessee Riverpark where no pets are allowed.

However, pet owners can visit Chattanooga's only dog park called the Chattanooga Chew Chew Canine Park,  located at 1801 Carter Street, behind teh First Tennessee Pavilion.

With continued park expansions and improvements through the 21st Century Waterfront Plan for the city’s downtown area and the ReCreate 2008 Plan for neighborhoods, we are establishing the City of Chattanooga as a growing leader in how we develop 'green spaces' to achieve improved quality of life for families and individuals through conservation and preservation of our city’s natural amenities.

Chattanooga Youth Leadership recently planted trees at the city's only dog park.
