NOAA Theme Pages and the NOAAServer
The purpose of the
NOAAServer is to provide access to distributed NOAA
data and information. Participants include all of the NOAA Line Offices.
A limited but growing portion of NOAA's data and information is
presently available through this system.
- Theme Pages bring together data and information
ssociated with a broad, thematic concept,
i.e., El Nino, a NOAA Strategic Goal
- Theme Pages start
with a general topic, allow the user to do some initial investigation by
reading about the broad topic, and ultimately points him into
direction of a specific topic and dataset that may be accessible through the
NOAAServer search paradigm.
- Theme pages link to the
NOAAServer
for NOAA-wide data searches, e.g.,
see the data section of the El Nino Theme Page
- The NOAAServer emphasizes a
search for specific data and information based upon a parameter search over
time and space.
- The NOAAServer
can be used to locate Theme pages, which are integrated into
NOAAServer search path, and provided focused information on a topic.
For example, use the
NOAAServer
to search for keyword "ENSO" to locate the
El Nino Theme Page
