A multistage design with Section 330 grantees as the first-stage sampling units. The sampling frame for the first-stage sample consisted of Section 330 grantees from the 1999 Uniform Data System (UDS) maintained by the Bureau of Primary Health Care of the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA/BPHC). The sampling frame was first stratified by the four census regions (Northeast, Midwest, South, and West) and the BPHC designation of urban/rural grantees.
Sociodemographic characteristics including income and insurance status, reasons for seeking care, health care service utilization, health conditions, health and functional status, and access to care.
