STATE OF MANUFACTURING
- New orders for manufactured goods increased in June. Since reaching a low point in February 2008, new orders have increased four consecutive months, totaling nearly $24 billion.
- The manufacturing job openings rate held steady in June, the fourth consecutive month of no change. The job openings rate remains below its 2007 levels.
- The Index of Industrial Production ticked up in July to 111.8. Since its most recent low point in May 2008, the index has increased a modest 0.1 percent, and remains below its most recent high of January 2008.
