As of May 2008, there are twelve software programs approved by USDA available to State agencies, school food authorities and local schools for implementing Nutrient Standard Menu Planning (NSMP). Before being approved by USDA, these software programs are tested and evaluated for use in conducting nutrient analyses that meet School Meals Initiative requirements.

We provide this information to assist State agencies, school food authorities, and local schools with the selection of a software program for use in implementing Nutrient Standard Menu Planning or conducting nutrient analyses to meet School Meals Initiative (SMI) requirements.
