IRS Grants Tax Relief for Ohio Storm Victims

CINCINNATI — The Internal Revenue Service today announced special tax relief for Ohio taxpayers in the Presidential Disaster Area that was struck by severe winter storms, flooding and mudslides from Dec. 22, 2004 through Feb. 1, 2005.

The disaster area consists of 32 counties: Ashland, Athens, Auglaize, Belmont, Clark, Coshocton, Crawford, Darke, Delaware, Fairfield, Franklin, Guernsey, Henry, Hocking, Holmes, Huron, Jefferson, Licking, Logan, Miami, Morgan, Muskingum, Pickaway, Pike, Richland, Ross, Scioto, Stark, Tuscarawas, Warren, Washington and Wyandot.

  • The Federal Tax Deposit (FTD) Penalty Waiver Period for employment and excise tax deposits was Dec. 22, 2004 to Jan. 7, 2005.
  • The Extension Period for returns and other tax payments is Dec. 22, 2004 to April 18, 2005.
  • The Disaster Designation for this area is “Storms and Floods–OH” — taxpayers mark certain relief-related forms in red with this designation.
