Scientists are particularly interested in Saturn's moon Titan because it's one of the few known moons with its own dense atmosphere. Titan's atmosphere is also thought to be very similar to what Earth's atmosphere was a long time ago. By learning about Titan, we'll learn about our own planet.

For current information about the NASA Astrobiology Program, please visit http://astrobiology.nasa.gov/

Astrobiology is the study of life in the universe. It investigates the orgin, evolution, distribution, and future of life on Earth and beyond. Astrobiology addresses three fundamental questions: How does life begin and evolve? Is there life beyond Earth and how can we detect it? What is the future of life on Earth and in the universe?

Roadmap: NASA and the science community have developed a roadmap that outlines pathways for Astrobiology research and exploration and indicates how they might be prioritized and coordinated. The roadmap embodies the efforts of more than 200 scientists and technologists, including NASA employees, academic scientists whose research is partially funded by NASA grant, and many members of the broader community who have no formal association with NASA.
