BMV > What To Bring To A Branch > Obtain a Disability Placard or License Plate Obtain a Disability Placard or License Plate

A parking placard or license plate with the international symbol of access is available for persons who have lost the use of one or both legs, have a temporary or permanent disability that requires the use of a walker, wheelchair, braces or crutches, or are certified by a doctor to be impaired. To obtain temporary or permanent disability license plates or placards, please complete the Application for a Disability Parking Placard or Plate.

Disability license plate applicants must pay the usual excise tax and registration fees, but there is no additional charge for license plates. A temporary disability placard is effective for six months from the date of issue.
