SUMMARY

Geologic data reports available are from academia, government, and foreign sources. Reports may contain one or more of the following types of analyses of sediment or hardrock from the ocean floor worldwide: descriptions, grain size, mineralogy, geochemistry, paleontology, petrology, acoustics of sediment, or photographs of the ocean floor embedded in reports, or as slides or on microfilm.

AVAILABILITY

All geology reports and data files are fully searchable through the Marine Geology Digital Inventory, most reports are available as .pdf files, including oversize charts, some additional data including well logs and sea floor photographs are available only on microfilm or microfiche.

Reports in .pdf form are viewable and downloadable through the Marine Geology Digital Inventory (see search link above). A total of over 70,000 pages (over 8 gigabytes of scanned images) are available online in .pdf form.

Some Copyrighted reports contributed through the World Data Center System are available for on-site inspection only. For these reports, the geologic inventory provides links to the contributing institution for ordering.
