Constellation National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Activities
NASA has prepared an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the implementation of the Constellation Program. The Constellation Program EIS encompasses NASA's initial efforts to extend the human presence throughout the Solar System. Major elements of the Constellation Program are currently focused on providing the capability to transport humans and cargo to the moon, in support of lunar exploration missions, and to the International Space Station (ISS), while future efforts would support missions to Mars and beyond. The Constellation Programmatic EIS has been developed in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and discusses the purpose and need for the development of systems needed to support these missions. NASA has prepared the Final Constellation Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement.
The Draft Environmental Assessment for the 4550 Test Stand at the Marshall Space Center has been prepared.
The Environmental Assessment for Launch Complex 32 at the White Sands Missile Range has been prepared.
The Environmental Assessment for the A-3 Test Stand at the Stennis Space Center has been prepared.
The Environmental Assessment for the facilities at the Kennedy Space Center has been prepared.
The Final Environmental Assessment for the proposed development of the Crew Exploration Vehicle has been prepared.
The National Environmental Policy Act is the governing law for conducting Environmental Impact Statements.
