Introducing the New and Improved Hot Mix Asphalt Paving Handbook 2000

Mix Asphalt Paving Handbook 2000, an update of the 1991 first
edition of the Handbook, is now available from the National Asphalt
Pavement Association (NAPA). The new edition has been expanded to
cover recent research findings, including those resulting from the
Strategic Highway Research Program; new paving equipment; the growth
in pavement recycling; changes in quality control practices; and the
introduction of new techniques from Europe and elsewhere.
The handbook provides government and contractor personnel with a
comprehensive view of state-of-the-art asphalt paving, including plant
operations, transportation of materials, surface preparation, laydown,
compaction, and quality control processes. Use of the handbook should
promote a common understanding among engineers, superintendents, foremen,
and paving inspectors of the processes involved in quality asphalt
paving, resulting in improved construction.
The Paving Handbook was developed under the sponsorship of
NAPA, the American Association of State Highway and Transportation
Officials, Federal Aviation Administration, Federal Highway Administration,
Transportation Research Board, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, American
Public Works Association, and the National Association of County Engineers.
