Bethesda AFCEA Honors Bibb for Leadership of Green InitiativesGSA # 10526 July 29, 2008 WASHINGTON – U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) Acting Administrator David Bibb received an award for excellence in leadership of green initiatives from AFCEA’s (Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association) Bethesda Chapter. The award was announced at the group’s first annual Governmentwide Initiatives Excellence Awards Ceremony at the Willard Intercontinental Hotel. Fred Schobert, Chief Technology Officer of GSA’s Integrated Technology Services, was also recognized with an award for Excellence in Governmentwide Procurement Initiatives. Schobert is a key leader in providing encryption security for laptop computers across the government. AFCEA International, established in 1946, is a non-profit membership association serving the military, government, industry, and academia as a forum for advancing professional knowledge and relationships in the fields of ethics, communications, IT, intelligence, and global security. Founded in 1998, the AFCEA Bethesda Chapter encourages greater government/industry partnerships and fosters networking among peers in government and industry. The chapter focuses on U.S. Civilian Agencies. AFCEA International has designated the Bethesda Chapter as a “Model Chapter of the Year” each year since 2000. ### GSA provides a centralized delivery system of products and services to the federal government, leveraging its enormous buying power to get the best value for taxpayers.
