Presenters from Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the United States and other countries will review relevant developments in the etiology, prevention and treatment of diabetes and related conditions among Indigenous people with a focus on the sharing of international best practices. This national conference is designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of persons engaged in American Indian/Alaska Native community and school-based physical activity programs designed to reduce the incidence and prevalence of childhood obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The conference will focus on ways that health care providers and educators can initiate or improve physical activity outcome measurements that target American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) children.
