“The primary reason that we came to the decision that we came to, was that there about 10 core populations across those 11 states where about 92 percent of all of the Sage Grouse in the West reside. We don’t have an official estimate on Sage Grouse numbers, but to boil it all down it was the fact that there are still a lot of Sage Grouse there, a lot of Sage Brush habitat and a lot of good conservation efforts that are taking place today and are planned for the future.”
