Change for Kodiak postponed until date TBD...Effective May 16, 2006 at 1900 UTC, the map area for several Boston, Pt. Reyes and Kodiak wind/wave and surface radiofax charts will change from a polar stereographic to a Mercator projection, and the areal coverage of the Boston 24 HR 500 MB charts will be expanded to the same basin-wide Mercator projection as the current 36...48 and 96 hour charts. Effective May 16, 2006 at 2230 UTC, the Honolulu sea state analysis and 24 hour sea state forecast radiofax charts produced by the Honolulu forecast office will be upgraded to become wind/wave charts and will have the same coverage as the streamline charts. Click Here for Details
- Deletion of several legacy FAX products effective Jun 06, 06
Effective June 20, 2006 at 2242 UTC the Honolulu radiofax broadcast schedule will be significantly modified to accommodate new 24, 48 and 72 hour wind/wave and surface charts and other enhancements, as well as the addition of existing charts produced by the Ocean Prediction Center and Tropical Prediction Center. The new broadcast schedule will be broadcast on-air beginning June 06, 2006. On June 20, 2006 the broadcast time of the on-air broadcast schedule will be shifted from 1045 and 2018 UTC to 0100 and 1300 UTC. Click Here for Details

Effective January 08, 2008, the e-mail address of the FTPMAIL
service will permanently transition
from ftpmail@weather.noaa.gov to ftpmail@ftpmail.nws.noaa.gov.
As of Jan 8, 2008 ftpmail@weather.noaa.gov will no longer exist.
Customers should start sending requests to the new address now
to ensure that they are able to receive responses to their requests
without problems. The new address ftpmail@ftpmail.nws.noaa.gov
is fully operational and supported 24 hours a day. If you restrict
incoming e-mail as a means of preventing spam, you must configure
your e-mail system to allow messages from ftpmail@ftpmail.nws.noaa.gov
when using the new address. Any problems experienced when using
the new FTPMAIL address should be reported to Carolyn.Rivers@noaa.gov

Effective April 22, 2008 U.S. NAVTEX broadcasts of weather forecasts containing a warning or a Dense Fog Advisory will be broadcast with a Subject Indicator of "B" vs. "E", such that receipt cannot be suppressed on the user's equipment. Mariners are encouraged to include subject indicator "E" in programming their NAVTEX in order to receive routine weather forecasts as well as weather warnings via NAVTEX.

This proposed change has been postponed indefinitely......
On August 15, 2008 it is proposed that the limits of the Boston Wind/Wave Analysis transmitted at 0315/1515 UTC, 24HR Wind/Wave Forecast transmitted at 0815/1915 UTC and 24HR Surface Forecast transmitted at 0805/1905 UTC be changed from 22N-51N, 40W-98W to 24N-48N, 48W-101W. This change is proposed to accommodate new work flow requirements and provide more detail in the coastal area. Please send comments to david.feit@noaa.gov by July 15, 2008

On Nov 03, 08 it is proposed that several radiofax charts produced by the
Tropical Prediction Center/National Hurricane Center and broadcast from
New Orleans, Pt. Reyes and Honolulu be based on information from different
model run times. A 36 hour wind/wave chart will be added to the New Orleans
broadcast. The new broadcast schedules may be found at
weather.noaa.gov/fax/marine.shtml and will be broadcast on-air beginning on
or about Oct 27, 08. This change is proposed to better align workflow to model
