Project Description: The goal of this research was to improve the use of colorectal cancer (CRC) screening in primary care settings. The investigator focused specifically on how to improve physician recommendations and communications in colorectal cancer screening, and how to reduce patient barriers and facilitate patient decisionmaking for CRC screening.
Career Goals: Dr. Hawley is Assistant Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. She plans to establish a career in health services research with a focus on cancer prevention and control. Other developmental activities include mentorship, multidisciplinary seminars and other forums; professional meetings; and teaching activities.
