WORK SCHEDULE:  This is a full-time position and is overtime eligible.  The position works a 40-hour workweek, generally Monday through Friday.

 

WORK LOCATION:  900 Oakesdale Avenue SW, Renton, WA  98057-5212.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:  The responsibilities of this classification include accepting applications for building and land use permits, issuing building permits, researching property records, providing information to the public, calculating and collecting fees/payments and reading and interpreting maps, plans and legal descriptions.  Public contact is at a very high level.

                                                  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school, or GED; and three years of office work experience, two years of which involved working with legal descriptions, property maps, construction blueprints, building regulations, land use regulations or closely related materials.  Must be able to clearly and effectively communicate both orally and in writing.  Excellent work attendance record.  Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds including large rolled plans.

 

DESIRABALE QUALIFICATIONS:  Higher education or training in business, planning, or construction related fields.  Some knowledge of using GIS mapping systems.

 

UNION MEMBERSHIP: Positions in this classification are represented by Local 17A, International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers.
