* Hurricane Flora caused an estimated 7,193 deaths and $528.5 million damage in the Greater Antilles (Cuba and Hispaniola). For the Atlantic Basin, this death toll has been exceeded or equaled only by four other hurricanes: 1) 8000 deaths in Honduras (Hurricane Fifi in 1974), 2) 8000 deaths in the 1930 hurricane in the Dominican Republic, 3) 8000 deaths in the Galveston Hurricane of 1900, and 4) 22,000 deaths in the Great Hurricane of October 10-12, 1780 in the Lesser Antilles.
