PRINT PUBLICATION General Requirements for Admission to the Examination for Registration to Practice in Patent Cases Before the US Patent and Trademark Office A register of attorneys and agents entitled to represent applicants for patent is maintained by the US Patent and Trademark Office. (The regulations governing the recognition of individuals to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office in patent cases are set forth in 37 CFR ยงยง 10.5, 10.6, and 10.7.) This booklet describes the requirements for registration as an attorney or agent. It includes the Application for Registration to Practice Before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, requirements for admission to the examination, a description of the exam content, the deadline for filing, and a list of the cities where the exam is given. This two-part publication summarizes, for a given calendar year, the classification and inventor/assignee information at the time of issue for Utility, Design, Reissue, and Plant Patents; Reexamination Certificates; and Statutory Invention Registrations published weekly in the Official Gazette - Patents. Part I, List of Patentees comprises an alphabetical listing of every patentee or assignee recorded at the time the patent document was issued. Part II, Index to Subjects of Inventions comprises a listing of all patents for the year according to US Patent Classification System class and subclass designation at the time the patent document was issued.
