Meeting Facilities:
Both workshops (NOAA Snowfall Network Observations Workshop and NOAA Data Users' Forum) will be held in the meeting room facilities of the National Weather Service Training Center (NWSTC) in Kansas City, Missouri. The NWS Training Center is located at 7220 N.W. 101st Terrace, phone number (816) 880-9594.
Detailed driving directions for getting to the Training Center can be found at the following web site:
http://www.nwstc.noaa.gov/d.admin/t_map.html
NWSTC Parking: Two of the conference hotels (Homewood Suites and Embassy Suites) are within walking distance, and the third hotel provides shuttle service to NWSTC. Parking is also available at NWSTC. If you park a vehicle at the NWSTC facility, you will need to obtain a parking permit from the NWSTC front desk when you arrive for the workshops. The permit must be displayed in your vehicle while it is parked at the facility.
Please note the following:
- Seating capacity in the main auditorium meeting room is limited. Seating will be available to the first 150 registered participants. Everyone (including speakers and NOAA employees) should go through the registration process. As of 21 May, there were 77 registered participants.
- These are two separate workshops. If you would like to attend both workshops, you will need to register separately for each workshop.
- Equipment available for presentations include an overhead projector and a computer equipped for Powerpoint presentations and internet connections.
- Posters: Attendees of both NOAA SNOW and the NOAA Data Users' Forum are invited to bring poster presentations to display during the workshops. If you plan to bring a poster, please email Barbara Mayes (Barbara.Mayes@noaa.gov) with the poster title and authors' names and affiliations; please note whether it should be displayed for either one or both workshops. NWSTC will provide wall space and materials to hang the posters. If you require special arrangements (i.e. a table to display instrumentation), please include those in your email.
- This federal facility has 24/7 security. Federal employees must show their I.D. badge upon entry. Non-federal employees must show I.D. and will be given a visitor badge for the duration of the conference to gain access to the building. All I.D. badges must be shown if requested by security personnel. Be sure to allow extra time on your first day at the workshops to pass through security.
- Foreign visitors are encouraged to pre-register at least 2 weeks in advance of the workshops.
