Research Program Projects (PO1)

Program Project Grant (P01)

A Program Project Grant (P01) is an assistance award for the support of a broadly based multidisciplinary research program that has a well-defined central research focus or objective. It may also include support for common supporting resources (cores) required for the conduct of the component research projects. Interrelationships between component projects are expected to result in a greater contribution to the program goals than if each project were pursued separately. The "P01" designation is the NIH activity code that identifies a program project application or grant.

Effectively immediately, NIEHS will not accept applications for new P01 grants. This moratorium will be effective until further notice, but will extend through FY08. At that time we will review the budget situation and may reconsider this decision. We will allow the submission of revised applications (-A1 only) and competing renewal applications from current P01 awardees.

NIEHS will accept P01 applications only for the September 25 Application Receipt Deadline. All prospective applicants (revised or competing renewal applications) are asked to submit a Request for Acceptance letter as soon as possible, but not later than May 25.
