Office of Hazardous Materials Special Permits and Approvals
Mission:
To administer a program for the disposition of requests for special permits
from, and special approvals under, the hazardous materials regulations;
maintain public records of these and other docketed regulatory
proceedings.
The functions of this Office are:

Coordinate with appropriate Operating Administrations, in
processing applications for special permits from the hazardous materials
regulations;

Make final determinations of requests for approvals and registrations
required by the hazardous materials regulations; and

Maintain a public docket system for all matters involving
hazardous materials regulatory actions which require formal docket
procedures. Submit appropriate regulatory documents to the Federal
Register.
The functions of this Office are also subject to the executive
direction of the Associate Administrator for Hazardous Materials
Safety.
