Air Quality Definitions and Activities
The NRCS Air Quality and Atmospheric Change National Technology Development
Team (AQAC) has developed an Activities List and List of Acronyms and
Definitions to help NRCS conservationists relate their everyday activities to
air quality (AQ) formal NRCS practice standards, better understand the many AQ
acronyms, and address upcoming issues related to the air resource.
The Activities List provides a connection from everyday on-farm actions to the
formal NRCS practice standards and identifies air quality issues that can be
addressed by those activities. This list is a useful tool that planners can use
to evaluate a producer’s operation for a program like CSP, or to use for more
formal conservation planning to link producer activities with our practice
standards.
The List of Acronyms and Definitions was originally put together by the AQAC
Team to help new members of the USDA Agricultural Air Quality Task Force become
familiar with agricultural air quality terminology that they might not otherwise
understand. Additionally, the list is a valuable resource for all NRCS employees
who are currently or might become involved with air quality or atmospheric
change questions. Anyone interested in untangling the vexing number of acronyms
in air quality will find this an invaluable resource.
