NEW NRC RESIDENT INSPECTORS AT KEWAUNEE NUCLEAR POWER STATION

Nuclear Regulatory Commission Officials in Lisle, Illinois, have assigned Robert G. Krsek as the senior resident inspector and Richard A. Berg as the resident inspector at the Kewaunee nuclear power plant in Kewaunee, Wisconsin.

Before his assignment to Kewaunee, Krsek had worked as a fuel cycle safety inspector in the NRC’s Region III Office in Lisle, Illinois, and the resident inspector at the Palisades nuclear power plant in Covert, Michigan.

Prior to joining the NRC, he worked at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Region V Office in the Air and Radiation Division, and as a health physics technician at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Krsek holds a bachelor of science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago in Chicago, Illinois.

Berg also began his duties at Kewaunee earlier this summer. He joined the NRC as a fuel cycle safety inspector in the NRC’s Region III Office in Lisle, Illinois, in April 2002. Prior to joining the NRC, Berg worked as a process engineer with BMC Industries in Cortland, New York. He also worked at Naval Reactors Headquarters in Washington, DC.

Berg holds a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts. In addition, he holds a master of science degree in chemical engineering from the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado.

Krsek, his wife and four children live in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Berg, his wife and two children live in Kewaunee, Wisconsin.

Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant has at least two NRC Resident Inspectors. They serve as the agency’s eyes and ears at the facility, conducting regular inspections, monitoring significant work activities and interfacing with plant workers and the public.
