NRC ADVISORY SUBCOMMITTEE ON EARLY SITE
PERMIT APPLICATIONS TO MEET |
|||||||||
A subcommittee of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards will hold a public meeting March 2 in Rockville, Md., to review the draft Safety Evaluation Report for an Early Site Permit (ESP) at the North Anna site in Virginia’s Louisa County. The subcommittee will also hear from representatives of Dominion Nuclear North Anna LLC, who will elaborate on information contained in the application. The subcommittee will then formulate proposed positions and actions, as appropriate, for discussion by the full committee. Dominion filed the ESP application for North Anna on Sept. 25, 2003. If approved by the NRC, it would give the company up to 20 years to decide whether to build one or more nuclear plants on the site and file an application with the NRC for approval to begin construction. The meeting will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Room T-2B3 of the agency’s Two White Flint North building, at 11545 Rockville Pike. Members of the public needing more information or interested in offering oral or written statements should contact Dr. Medhat M. El-Zeftawy at 301-415-6889. Electronic recordings of this meeting will be permitted. Dr. El-Zeftawy can also be contacted for information on any potential changes to the agenda. |
