NRC TO MEET WITH NUCLEAR MANAGEMENT COMPANY TO DISCUSS SAFETY PERFORMANCE AT THE MONTICELLO NUCLEAR POWER PLANT

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will meet with Nuclear Management Company officials July 16 to discuss the NRC's annual assessment of safety performance at the Monticello Nuclear Power Plant in Monticello, Minnesota.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. CDT and will be held at the Monticello Community Center, 505 Walnut Street, in Monticello. The public is invited to observe the meeting. NRC officials will be available after the meeting to answer questions.

The annual assessment, referred to as the End-of-Cycle assessment, evaluates safety performance at the Monticello plant from April 2000 through March 2001, and informs plant officials of the NRC's plans for future inspections at the facility.
