TIM HOEG NAMED SENIOR RESIDENT INSPECTOR AT GRAND GULF NUCLEAR PLANT

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff has assigned Tim Hoeg to be senior resident inspector at the Grand Gulf nuclear power plant near Port Gibson, Miss. He joins resident inspector Peter Alter at the site.

Each commercial nuclear power plant in the United States has at least two resident inspectors who maintain offices at the plant and who monitor work projects and observe plant operations each day.

Mr. Hoeg joined the NRC in 1997 as a reactor engineer in the Systems Engineering Branch in the Division of Reactor Safety at the NRC's Region I office in King of Prussia, Penn. He then became a resident inspector at the Calvert Cliffs nuclear plant in Lusby, Maryland.

Prior to joining the NRC, Mr. Hoeg was a nuclear systems manager at Public Service Electric & Gas Company's Salem nuclear plant in Lower Alloways Creek Township, N.J., and a shift test engineer supervisor at General Dynamics Electric Boat Division in Groton, Conn.

Mr. Hoeg served in the U.S. Navy as a machinist mate aboard the USS Sam Houston (SSBN 609). Following service in the Navy he earned a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton.

Mr. Hoeg, his wife and daughter live in Vicksburg, Miss.
