||
SEPARATE MEETING ON MARCH 22 TO DISCUSS FISH AND WILDLIFE CONCERNS Officials of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission will meet with Southern Nuclear Operating Company management at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, March 16 at the Hatch nuclear power plant visitor center near Baxley, Georgia, to present the results of the NRC's second inspection of the Hatch license renewal program. The meeting is open to observation by the public. The NRC conducted a similar meeting at Hatch last October 5 to discuss results of the agency's initial inspection of the program. NRC officials said there will be a report on the second inspection, conducted from February 26 until March 16, approximately 30 days following the meeting, which will be available to the public. There will be a second public meeting conducted at the plant visitor center on Thursday, March 22, at 2:30 p.m. to explain the results of discussions between the NRC staff, the National Marine Fisheries Service, the Fish and Wildlife Service and Southern Nuclear Operating Company regarding the review of the license renewal application. Both meetings are between the NRC and the licensee but are open to observation by interested members of the public. NRC officials will be available at their conclusion to answer questions observers may have. |
