About RSS

What is RSS?

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a method of receiving web updates on topics of your choice. It is a popular alternative to email subscriptions. The RSS content is called a "feed". On TreasGov, the Icon: RSS Feed icon indicates the content is available via RSS feed.

What do I need in order to receive RSS updates?

You need an RSS reader to receive and display RSS content. A number of RSS readers are available for downloading. For information on RSS readers , visit USA.gov, the official portal of the U.S. Government. Some browsers, such as Firefox, integrate RSS feeds into the browsers and do not require any additional RSS reader software.

Once I have an RSS reader, how do I subscribe to TreasGov RSS feeds?

Check your RSS reader instructions since the methods vary. Some readers automatically detect any RSS feeds on a web page and ask whether you want to add them to your subscription list. Other readers require you to click on the RSS feed link and cut and paste the web page address into the reader.
