NRC TO HOST OPEN HOUSE AT NEW PUBLIC DOCUMENT ROOM IN ROCKVILLE, MARYLAND, ON OCTOBER 11

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony and an open house at its new Public Document Room (PDR) at the agency's Rockville, Maryland, headquarters on Wednesday, October 11.

The open house will begin with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by NRC Chairman Richard A. Meserve at 2:15 p.m. and continue through 3:30 p.m. The PDR is located on the first floor of the headquarters building.

The facility was relocated from Washington, D.C., late last month to increase efficiency through the co-location of the PDR at the agency's headquarters, at 11555 Rockville Pike, Rockville, Maryland, directly across from the White Flint Station on Metro's Red Line. The PDR was temporarily closed for the move and reopened to the public on September 26.

The facility provides onsite and remote access to a comprehensive collection of publicly available NRC documents in paper, microfiche, or electronic format. The collection includes documents related to NRC licensing proceedings, Commission papers, inspection reports, correspondence on technical, legal and policy matters, and other significant decisions and actions. The PDR's service hours are 7:45 a.m. - 4:15 p.m. for the Reading Room, and 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 for telephone inquiries.

The phone number for the PDR is 301-415-4PDR (4737) or 1-800-397-4209. The mailing address for the facility is: U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Public Document Room, Washington, D.C. 20555.
