Indian Point 2 Event Information Available on NRC External Web Site

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission is now posting detailed information and documents on the recent steam generator event at Indian Point 2 nuclear power plant in New York on its external web site in a centralized location.

The Indian Point 2 temporary web page is posted at http://www.nrc.gov/NRC/REACTOR/IP/index.html . It contains background information, news releases, public meeting notices, reference documents on steam generators and inspection reports.

Recently added to the web site are: (1) a 2/28/00 memo from the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation to the Office of Research asking for an independent review of the safety evaluation of the steam generator tube inspection interval and repair criteria; (2) a 3/16/00 memo from the Office of Research conveying its independent assessment; and (3) a 3/20/00 memorandum from the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation relating to potential lessons learned from the recent Indian Point 2 incident.

Other pertinent documents will be added as they are completed and become available to the public.
