NRC Names New Resident Inspector at Monticello Nuclear Power Plant

Nuclear Regulatory Commission officials in Lisle, Illinois, have announced the assignment of Thomas L. Fredrichs as the agency's Resident Inspector at the Monticello Nuclear Power Plant in Monticello, Minnesota.

An NRC employee since 1997, Fredrichs began his new duties May 8. For the past three years, Fredrichs has worked as a project manager in the decommissioning section at NRC Headquarters in Rockville, Maryland. Prior to joining the NRC, he was employed by Wisconsin Electric Power Co. at the Point Beach Nuclear Power Plant in Two Rivers, Wisconsin, in various engineering and technical positions including chemistry manager.

Fredrichs has participated in a wide range of nuclear industry organizations, including the Electric Power Research Institute, Westinghouse Steam Generators Owners Group, and the Institute for Nuclear Power Operations.

Fredrichs has a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Wisconsin, and a master's degree in finance from the University of Chicago. He and his wife, Victoria, live in Elk River, Minnesota.
