NRC to Meet with Consolidated Edison Tomorrow Night to Discuss IP2 Steam Generator Examination The Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff will meet with Consolidated Edison officials tomorrow night (3/1) to discuss a number of issues related to the steam generator tube leak at Indian Point 2 on February 15. That leak led to an alert declaration at the plant in Buchanan, N.Y. The NRC has sent an Augmented Inspection Team (AIT) to the site to look into the event and its causes. The NRC and Consolidated Edison will discuss among other things, the Indian Point 2 steam generator inspection and testing program, the onsite replacement steam generators, and the steam generator tube inspection findings and restart criteria. The meeting will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Consolidated Edison Education Center Auditorium at Broadway and Bleakley Avenue in Buchanan, N.Y. This meeting is open to the public for observation only. Following the meeting, the NRC staff will be available to respond to questions from the public. This meeting is not directly part of the AIT effort, but rather it is part of a review of steam generator issues. The AIT results are expected to be available in several weeks. # |
