NRC Names New Resident Inspector at Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Plant Nuclear Regulatory Commission officials in Lisle, Illinois, have announced the assignment of Douglas S. Simpkins as the agency's Resident Inspector at the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Plant in Oak Harbor, Ohio. Prior to joining the NRC's Region III staff in October, Simpkins was the lead inspector for uranium recovery in the NRC's Region IV office in Arlington, Texas. Before joining the NRC, he was the reactor manager for the University of Florida's training reactor in Gainsville, Florida. He also obtained a Senior Reactor Operator license in 1991 and served six years in the U.S. Navy on a submarine as a reactor operator. Simpkins earned a bachelor's degree in zoology and a master's in environmental engineering both from the University of Florida. Simpkins, his wife Lisa and three children live in Oak Harbor, Ohio.
