NRC NAMES NEW RESIDENT INSPECTOR Nuclear Regulatory Commission officials in Lisle, Illinois, have announced the assignment of Raymond J. Powell as the agency's Resident Inspector at the Point Beach Nuclear Power Plant in Two Rivers, Wisconsin. Prior to beginning his duties with the NRC in September, Powell was a nuclear engineer and facility representative for the Department of Energy at the Mound Facility near Dayton, Ohio. He also served in the U.S. Navy as a shift test engineer at the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard, Hawaii, and in the U.S. Air Force as an engineer at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, Nebraska. He earned a bachelor's degree in nuclear engineering from Columbia University in New York and a master's in physics from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. Powell, his wife Nancy, and son live in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Powell joins NRC Senior Resident Inspector Fred Brown at Point Beach.
