I-97-94(corrected) July 29, 1997
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff will meet with officials of Northeast Utilities on Thursday, July 31, to discuss the safety-conscious environment at Millstone Station in Waterford, Ct. The meeting, which is open to the public for observation only, will be held in Room 12B-11, of the NRC's One White Flint North Building at 11555 Rockville Pike, Rockville, MD., beginning at 2:30 p.m.
NRC officials have requested that NU officials discuss actions the company is taking to minimize the potential impact of the disciplinary actions the company announced last week on the company's efforts to ensure workers feel free to raise safety concerns. On July 23, NU disciplined 22 employees for their performance with the training department at Millstone. The reasons for taking the disciplinary actions will not be the focus of the meeting.
