No. 97-067 May 2, 1997
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission's Atomic Safety and Licensing Board has issued a fourth and final initial decision on the application of Louisiana Energy Services for a license to build and operate a uranium enrichment plant in Claiborne Parish near Homer, La. The decision addresses the environmental justice contention filed by Citizens Against Nuclear Trash, a party to the proceeding.
The decision, which can be appealed to the Commission, denies the applicant's requested authorization for a license, without prejudice to the applicant amending its license application in accordance with the initial decision.
A copy of the 91-page decision is available on the NRC Office of Public Affairs home page at: http://www.nrc.gov/OPA/reports. Copies will also be mailed to the news media on request.
