NEWS ANNOUNCEMENT: RIII-97-49

May 23, 1997

The May 29 predecisional enforcement conference with Commonwealth Edison Company, previously announced as open to public observation, will be a closed meeting. The enforcement conference will discuss an apparent employment discrimination violation that occurred in 1994 at the Braidwood plant near Joliet, Illinois.

NRC officials have concluded that the discussion that may result at the conference has the potential to violate the privacy of the individuals involved. As a result the meeting will be closed.

The results of the meeting and associated documents will be made publicly available after the NRC has made its enforcement decision in the case.
