NRC NAMES NEW SENIOR RESIDENT INSPECTOR

AT WNP-2 NUCLEAR POWER PLANT

Nuclear Regulatory Commission officials at the Region IV office in Arlington, Texas, have announced the assignment of Scott Boynton as the agency's new senior resident inspector at the WNP-2 nuclear power plant near Richland, Washington.

Mr. Boynton joined the NRC in 1991, in the emergency preparedness branch of the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation at agency headquarters in Rockville, Maryland. In July 1995, he was named a resident inspector at the Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant near San Luis Obispo, California.

A native of Huntsville, Alabama, Mr. Boynton earned his bachelor's degree in engineering physics at the University of Colorado in 1986. He received his commission as an officer in the U.S. Navy in 1986 and, following nuclear power training, served aboard the nuclear submarine U.S.S. Michigan out of Bangor, Washington until 1991.

Mr. Boynton and his wife, Kristine, are the parents of two children, Allison, 3, and John, 1. He joins George Replogle, NRC resident inspector, at WNP-2.
