National Preparedness Month Tips of the Day

There are a few simple steps you and your family can take to become better prepared for an emergency: Get a Kit, Make a Plan, Be Informed and Get Involved. Choose an emergency contact who lives outside your area since it may be easier to call long distance after a disaster. Share this number with your family.

Also, be sure to have a landline in your home and a phone that works without electricity since cellular phones may not be in service during a disaster. Department of Homeland Security
