Radiation Exposure Information and Reporting System

Originator: U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research, Radiation Protection, Environmental Risk, and Waste Management Branch

Abstract: The Radiation Exposure Information and Reporting System (REIRS) database contains reports of occupational radiation exposure experienced by individual employees monitored by the authorizing licensee. Certain licensees are required to submit such records on an annual basis in accordance with 10 CFR 20.2206. The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) then tracks the licensee exposure histories and publishes its findings in volumes of NUREG-0713, "Occupational Radiation Exposure at Commercial Nuclear Power Reactors and Other Facilities."

Purpose: The REIRS database was developed to maintain licensees' reports of occupational radiation exposure. Data from this database provide the basis for several NRC documents. (Of these documents, the most significant is NUREG-0713.)

Agency Program: The REIRS database supports NRC safety concerns.

Availability: NUREG-0713 is available via the Internet by accessing information on Occupational Radiation Exposure at NRC-Licensed Facilities from the home page (see the REIRS link below or see distributors). An employee's exposure records are only made available in response to a written request from the employee to the REIRS Project Manager (contact listed below).
