Data Presentation

Flow Cytometry

A variety of methods are available by which to view cytometric data.

Histograms

Histograms are a common way to view the flow cytometric data Histograms are a common way to view the flow cytometric data. Histograms are single parameter plots with the horizontal axis representing the fluorescent parameter and the vertical axis representing the number of cells.

Gated histogram Histograms can be gated to show statistics of the positive population of cells for a given fluorescent parameter.

Dot Plots

Dot Plots: Dot plots are most commonly used when the analysis involves two fluorescent parameters

Dot plots are most commonly used when the analysis involves two fluorescent parameters. Each dot represents a single cell.

Other statistical information can be obtained from gated populations of cells

A variety of other statistical information can be obtained from gated populations of cells, such as median, geometric mean, Coefficient of Variation (CV) and Standard Deviation (SD).

Data Presentation

Data can be presented using contour plots, density plots or 3-dimensional plots

Along with dot plots, there are other ways in which the data can be presented, including contour plots, density plots or 3-dimensional plots.
