- Mercury in Fish issues
- Developed a “Risk Potential Index” to classify fishery products by microbial risk
- Participates on the Joint Subcommittee on Aquaculture regarding aquatic animal health
- Participates in the Shrimp Virus Peer Reviews and Risk Assessment Workshops
- Provides assistance to FDA with data transfer, technical reviews, and comments on their Risk Assessment of the Public Health Impact of Vibrio parahaemolyticus in Raw Molluscan Shellfish
- Participates on the Policy and Technical Committees of the Federal Interagency Risk Assessment Consortium
- Participates in various Risk Assessment activities of the National Advisory Committee for Microbiological Criteria for Foods
- Participates in various Interstate Shellfish Sanitation Conference activities to assess the risk of Vibrios in shellfish
- Participated in the review of the FDA/USDA Draft relative to Risk Assessment from foodborne Listeria monocytogenes among selected categories of ready-to-eat foods
- Participated in risk evaluations of seafood products such as:
- vacuum/modified atmosphere packed fisheries products
- re-use of waters for thawing of frozen tuna and shrimp
- cooked shrimp processing procedures
- investigation of consumer illness complaints
- dioxin in catfish feeds
- other concerns of constituents
