A Workshop Summary Will be Posted Later
The third NOAA Multibeam Sonar/Ocean Mapping Workshop is designed to build on the issues and actions identified at the previous workshops, and is intended to help establish a foundation for NOAA's integrated ocean mapping efforts. The workshop will focus on four themes: identifying potential data standards based on user requirements; discussing end-to-end data management models; identifying training requirements; and discussing the unique requirements and technology needs for multibeam water column operations. Specific objectives include:
- Improve understanding of International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) survey standards
- Gain a better understanding of user group requirements (content, resolution, products):
- survey
- geology
- habitat
- water column
- Explore the intersection between IHO standards and user requirements
- Discuss a model for future data management
- Identify training requirements for acquiring, processing, and delivering multibeam data
- Discuss next steps to meet water column requirements
