As a representative of the United State Federal government, NOAA Fisheries Office for Law Enforcement works with various international organizations in the protection and conservation of our nation's living marine resources and the marine resources of the world.

The OLE also enforces international laws, treaties and agreement which the United States signs into as they relate to areas under the jurisdiction of the OLE and NOAA Fisheries.

NOAA Fisheries Office for Law Enforcement's expertise in environmental crime, criminal investigations, fishing industry, VMS and case management is consistently sought after by various coastal nations.

The Office for Law Enforcement also plays a key role in the enforcement of Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) as they relate to marine wildlife.

OLE special agents and enforcement officers continue to work with a variety of member nations in relation to the Convention on the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR). One of the major issues the OLE deals with through CCAMLR is in regard to Patagonian toothfish (aka: Chilean sea bass) importations.
